As the Recruitment Sales Manager for the Guardian; establishing its Scottish Office in 1995 before starting up Feather Brooksbank Recruitment in 1999, which I grew from a standing start with no billings to a business with turnover in excess of £9m by the time I left in 2006

The Drum

Along the way I was extremely pleased to be voted Media Buyer of the Year in 2003 by The Drum magazine - the first, and only, time a recruitment-focussed media buyer has been given this accolade. In each of these roles I worked with hugely varied and blue chip client bases and great colleagues, across a wide range of media and disciplines.

My aim is to get close to all my clients and act as one of their team, problem solving and developing their business as if it was my own. Finally, I don't just talk about strategy, I help to implement it

The Potent Mix

I spent a long time at University, intending to follow an academic career. Family came along and I found myself working for the Highland News Group, selling advertising. I had five years in the media, latterly with the Press and Journal/Evening Express in Aberdeen as a Sales Manager, before moving to Austin Knight in 1988. With AK's sale to TMP in the late 1990s, I transferred my affections to Riley (Euro RSCG Riley) in 1999 and remained there, latterly as a Board Member with joint responsibility for their entire UK Advertising and Marketing Division and particular responsibilities for media.

I am immensely proud of the fact that, in conjunction with some outstanding colleagues, took first Austin Knight and then Riley to the No 1 position in the Scottish recruitment advertising/marketing industry. In addition, I've been nominated, often successfully, for some of my creative/writing work, including a RAD, the 'blue-riband' of our industry.

Like Tony, I aim to work in partnership with clients, acting as an independent adviser and seeking to prompt and probe into areas which will help everyone to maximise their own and their team's efficiency and effectiveness, and, crucially, to help save money and/or put more money on the bottom line where that is appropriate.

As such, I'm not just Momentum SPK's pet writer - but an all-round creative ready to deliver advertising concepts, manage web & social media content, craft copy short and long, and create strong brand identities.
